I think jagex was worried about the rate at which players would be able to harvest many of those higher level resources (a concern that has become moot with the ease of collecting them through bosses and enemies) and so they ran the higher level resources into the ground with slow respawns and lower chances to actually get a resource each time you attempt it. I think all of these resource collecting skills suffer from this issue of having low to medium level methods just being the best. Moving up to p2p one of the fastest methods is teaks, which is still a pretty low level tree.

Willows are a later unlock, but not by much being only level 30 required and that absolutely is the best method for woodcutting in f2p by miles, being a full 35% faster than the next best even without tick manipulation (which you can also do to boost that exp even more if you hate yourself enough). It's not the best, but it's high enough that even the osrs wiki lists it as a recommended method all the way to 99 even for p2p players. You aren't exactly far off on fishing and woodcutting.Įven in p2p fly fishing is absolutely considered one if the best methods for training fishing and you first unlock at it level 20, only five levels after when you unlock iron ore.

I had to give up a few t9s before I could boost over 90 mining just because no one wanted to come and crack it open. Even if you call it, and it's a t9 or something, no one wants to come. And then bam, basically a solo star for free. I'd scout a couple stars, get some tasty first tags to boot, so I could feel like a contributing member of the community, until someone called a star i knew no one else wanted or could go to.

You want to solo stars so you can spend an hour and a half, go to the remote locations no one wants to go to and you'll see maybe one or two other people.
